As (current) Vice President of the TBDCC (Tottenham, Beeton Chamber of Commerce), I am very proud of the work our committee does to promote local service and product providers. I am also a fan of the Alliston Potato Festival and Beeton Fair and the Honey Festival. Throw in the Tottenham Toot-&-Holler, a large part due to garage sales, and it’s evident that there are many attractions in our town. I still find, though, that we do seem fragmented. I would like to see more inter-community events to bring out our collective spirit. A ball hockey tournament, baseball tournament, or similar event to pit friendly team against team, as well as the community to community bike ride events for charity. Although this may seem like I am motivating communities to polarize (us against them), in reality, I feel such events would strengthen our bonds.
